Why I wrote it….

Originally this book was going to be a magazine article, but here it is, a full-blown book. Because the work is so demanding, with long days and no days off, writing it took years. People have always been curious about the work, whether or not they ever hire a pet sitter. They ask, “How many dogs do you see every day? How many clients do you have?” and so on. I try to imagine being that curious about any other occupation. Think about it – it just doesn’t work. It has to be that endless fascination we all have with the human/ animal relationship. And that is a much bigger topic than I can tackle. Every day is different in this business, and I’ve shared just one. Writing it was great fun. I hope reading it is, too.
